Groundhog Pottery
Manny Magallon
This web site is dedicated to fine artist Manny Magallón's high fire crystaline glaze pottery.

Manuel "Manny" Alarcon Magallón passed away on April 1st, after courageously battling pancreatic cancer for two and a half years.

Manny was a fine arts instructor at West Valley College and founding member of the Mission College Art department. He enjoyed teaching ceramics, drawing, and some of the earliest computer graphics and animation classes. All the while Manny continued to create beautiful art, primarily ceramic pieces.

In January of 2003 he formed a business, Groundhog Pottery, named after the day of his birth and frequent family nickname. He focused on the creation of beautiful works of crystalline glaze pottery which he showed at local galleries, open studios, and events, and participated in local art festivals. He served as interim board chair to the Pacific Arts League, a member of the Orchard Valley Ceramic Arts Guild and was active in the arts community.

Manny was loved by many and will be dearly missed by all friends and family, especially his wife Linda, son Victor, daughter Teresa, son-in-law Jeff Kumre and brothers Louis and Andy.
